COMMUNITY DRIVERS NEEDED

Release Date: June 12, 2024

WILMINGTON:  The MOOver is seeking community/volunteer drivers to provide much-needed rides for locals going to medical treatments.

Community drivers use their own car and can drive as little or as much as they wish, and are reimbursed at the current GSA mileage rate (67 cents per mile) which is not considered taxable income. They must have a valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and a good driving record. Most trips are for medical appointments for those without transportation, so drivers will derive the satisfaction of knowing they make a difference in people’s lives.

“Community drivers provide a key role in meeting a huge demand for medical trips,” said Randy Schoonmaker, MOOver CEO. “We need many more of them as we currently deny some requests every day for people needing medical treatments.”

Dawn has been a community driver for many years. “I got a lot of people on a daily basis that thank me over and over for the service,” she says.

Adds Benjamin, another long-term community driver: “. . . doctor’s appointments, dialysis, chemotherapy – places that they wouldn’t be able to get to without us being a volunteer driver makes me feel beneficial to the community.”

The Community Driver Application can be filled out online on the MOOver’s website, or it can be mailed.     For more information go to www.moover.com/support-us or call us at 1-888-869-6287.
