MOOver CELEBRATES TWO YEARS OF WINDSOR MICROTRANSIT SERVICE
Release Date: January 30, 2025
WINDSOR: On Monday, January 23, 2023, Southeast Vermont Transit (SEVT aka The MOOver) began Vermont’s second microtransit service in Windsor.
This week marks the second anniversary of the free service. Microtransit is like Uber with a van, taking riders anywhere they need to go for whatever purpose within the Town of Windsor, and along Route 5 from the Hartland Public Library to the Exit 8 Park & Ride. Rides are arranged online, via an app, or by calling the MOOver’s office.
The service operates weekdays from 6:00 am-6:30 pm. To date, 13,652 rides have been provided to 288 residents. Riders use the service for shopping, medical appointments, employment, and personal care trips. Sixteen employers have staff who have used the service to go to work. There are 48 destinations in Windsor that riders have gone to.
“If it wasn’t for the MOOver I would not have any way to get to work or errands. The MOOver is an amazing program that so many people rely on,” said Andrea. Adds another rider, Sharon: “Without this wonderful company, we would struggle to fulfill many of our daily tasks and life requirements.”
The MOOver needs to generate $50,000 of non-federal funding to continue the service after June 30, 2025. It is asking Windsor voters to support Article 14 on the Town Meeting agenda to appropriate $20,000 in Town funds. Voting is by Australian ballot on Tuesday, March 4th.
“We have enjoyed tremendous local support and input since Day One of the planning, start-up, and operation of this service,” said Randy Schoonmaker, MOOver CEO. “Windsor is a great place to run microtransit, and we thank everyone for their support.”
The first microtransit in Vermont was Montpelier. Since then, microtransit operates in Brattleboro, Middlebury, Manchester, and Morrisville.
